Removing scabs after a hair transplant is a very important part of aftercare to ensure healthy graft survival and good cosmetic results. Here’s what you need to know:
ð When to Remove Scabs
Day 1: Do not touch or disturb the grafts. Just use a gentle saline spray , remove some blood clots, ointment.
Day 2â7: Begin gentle washing using baby shampoo, gently tap only, no rubbing , room temp or warm water. Use a cup or gentle shower spray (not too strong).
After Day 7 : start gently rub while shampooing, still use baby shampoo for 2 weeks post op, after that any regular shampoo is fine.
Scabs should start softening and falling off naturally. If they remain, you may begin gently helping them off.
By Day 10â14: All scabs should ideally be gone. If not, they can impede hair growth or risk folliculitis.
